Coolant resevoir question noobish but easy

Icon3 Coolant resevoir question noobish but easy

i know its stupid but i jsut flushed my girlfriends radiator and do i not put coolant in this?? my friends tried to say OIL goes in it and i know its stupid but i just wanna make sure





doesn't coolant go into this ??

Yes, that's the coolant reservoir. Keep the coolant level at the full mark when the engine is cold.

top off coolant in the radiator and fill the reservoir to the line. could be headgasket. have you noticed any boiling or overheating?

i thought you were supposed to check the reservior level when warm since coolant pushes out into the res as the car warms up and the rad cap releases extra pressure???

Based on your comment, I relooked at my Owner's Manual and found that its recommendations are different from what I do. The manual says that, when the engine is cold, you should add coolant to the reservoir until the level is midway between the MAX and MIN marks (see below). I would follow the Owner's Manual recommendations.
