Flywheel installed backwards?
So recently a buddy of mine picked up an Integra. It was having trouble starting( would hesitate starting like the battery was almost dead ) but would roll start just fine. Previous owner had it wired to a push button and the push button was the initial source of the problem. So he picks up a new starter and after a few days gets the push button gone and has it starting by the turn of a key. Well long story short he has yet another starter issue and he calls me today to tell me that he has taken it to a "shop" and they have told him his flywheel is on backwards and that its going to be a 500 dollar fix. I think he is getting raped.
im not super wiz when it comes to motors but I figured that installing a flywheel would be a problem that would cause the clutch and everything else not to fit and mate up proper. Keep in mind this car was driven from Florida to Tennessee monthy for like 6 months after the lightweight flywheel was installed and these problems came up.
I basically am asking as stupid as it sounds...is it possible to install a flywheel backwards and the car still drive. All in all if I get a bunch of "HELL no" responses I can use this to show him with confidence that he is getting screwed and to start sourcing other causes of his problems. Thanks for the help guys!!

There is NO possible way for the flywheel to be installed incorrectly. It's machined to fit one way so that it rests on the end of the crankshaft with the ability to bolt a clutch to it. Tell that place to **** OFF.
