camshaft users in auto X
What camshafts are you using? For the auto cross drivers who have plenty of seat time and also go to the drag strip (specifically running 13's or faster) what camshafts are you using? How can you compare the low-mid range from stock? Are stage 2 camshafts too much? Anyone have stage 3's? The last auto cross event I went to I spoke to a driver and he told me he has Pro3's in his EG, but I didn't get to speak to him for long. Thanks in advance.
No idea what I'm talking about, but off the top of my head,
..
I'd imagine bigger peaky cams are overkill. Some Pro 1's with bigger primaries would be more ideal.

From my experience here at Bisimoto, our Auto X guys tend to run with our level 2 camshafts. They are able to attain the RPM that they want while still getting the torque out of the cam as well.
That tends to be the typical setup from my experience but then again we can make any cam you want, so really it comes down to figuring out what you have and where it can be improved. Shoot me an email and I will help you out however possible.

I know I wont be of much help but I will have some feedback on a delta 272 regrind in a few months. I will say that when you select your cams you should also consider your compression ratio and header/exhaust too.
you probably arent going to find alot of guys that are avid autoxers that know their 1320 time. i know my buddy.s turbo car ran 12.3 on street tires and even with progressive boost that would be a handful and he is on just s2 stage1 cams.
also some of the classes that honda/acuras are competitive in nationally cannot touch their cams.
with that said you would want alot of midrange power because most of the time you will be in one gear for the whole course unless you go to a big layout you will get through the gears somewhat.

Stock. You need to read the rulebook and figure out if you really REALLY want to be stuck in a class that you may or may not ever be competitive in because you made a camshaft change.
In competitive driving, seat time will make you faster over time than any cam change ever will.

I'm sure someone has a street car set up with stage 2's camshafts, and decided to do a auto-x event. I'm not worried about the class I'm put in, I just wanna have fun. I have goals with my motor I'm building, such as having 200+whp and running 13's or better on the 1/4. And still being able to go to the auto-x events and have fun and also work my way up to track events such as button willow etc. That's why I wanted to ask if anyone has a built up motor and still running auto-x. I'm used to my stock GSR motor and its response and low-mid range but when I finish my build, it's going to be far from stock. Thanks in advance.
Well since youre swapped, you are already going to be in a class that you will get your *** handed to you in.
Either way, you dont seem to be listening. You want to spend money? Buy some great tires and some driving instruction, other than that just go out and start participating in as many events as you can. You will learn tons just by going out and doing it. After that, start worrying about what to spend money on.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying sir. I already attended auto-x, I know what class I'm in. What I'm saying is I'm in the process of building a motor which will use stage 2 cams, and I wanted to know if there are other auto-x drivers out there using a engine set up with stage 2 cams or greater because even after the build I still plan on attending auto-x. I wanted to hear their feedback on how their car felt before they went with a more aggressive set up and after. My build is not specifically for auto-x. I'm completely aware of seat time, don't remind me.
