in need of 2nd or 3rd opinion for '94 Integra LS
guys, i have been reading a few of the posts on here regarding why their Integras wont start, but mines a little different. it may just be the same issue as theirs, which comes out to being the main relay near the ignition, but I don't know and am not ready to spend a lot of money replacing parts that don't need to be replaced. I will be replacing the clutch, pp, flywheel resurfaced, and TOB this weekend....fyi
my integra I have owned for ages, like 10 years. I also owned my del sol which i sold back in 2005. But my integra is starting to give me a "starting" issue. I took it to Autozone and Oreillys and Napa and Car Quest eventually telling me I needed a new battery...so I bought Duralast. it clicks, not continuously though, but everytime i turn it on it just clicks once.
Scenario: Put key in hole, turn one (click), turn two (click) and the lights on dash pop on, turn three (click) and the dash lights are off already BUT engine doesn't start...instead it just clicks once (while pressing down on clutch). I can repeat it over and over again but the darn thing just clicks 1 time and not 3-10 times.
I read on a site that said if you can hear ALL three clicks, its NOT your main relay. My starter is fine and so is my alternator, according to Autozone and Oreillys. Im thinking its the STARTER SOLENOID but could it really be?? I could use another two cents from Integra owners! Thanks!

So, when you turn the key to start it you just hear a click, and the engine doesn't crank? Sounds like a bad starter relay. If it was the fuel injection main relay, the engine would crank.
I had to rebuild mine recently. I used a rebuilt kit I found on ebay:

hmmm...i have never heard of that before. plus, whoever posted it on Ebay sounded like a child spelling words incorrectly. I rather just change the whole starter solenoid, best case scenario.
anyone else have any ideas? yes it just clicks once everytime...(clutch down+key on)

I took the starter off the car, as well as the alternator, and took them to Autozone and Oreillys to test. They came out positive w/o any issues. So again, Im stuck in a nutshell deciding what to do with the car. If I want to sell it, should I even replace my clutch!?! Random decisions just come to my mind in this situation AND winter is coming soon too, thus car labor prices are increased!
1st, do not always trust the testing proceedures used at the autoparts stores, i have had advanced auto tell me 3 alternators were good, while in fact all three were bad.
2nd, are you handy with a multimeter? If so you can diagnose your problem easily.
I had the same problem and it was a faulty armature in the starter solenoid, it was pitted and not getting sufficient contact, not only that but covered in a ton of carbon build up, solution was to just but another starter, 129 bucks or so.
You can pop your hood, put the meter on the outside of the windshield, run the leads, negative to the negative battery post, and the positive to the starter signal on the starter, when you turn the key to "crank" mode, you should see the signal go positive 12.xx volts.. if you do not see a signal, then you have a fault in your relay, clutch NSS, etc.. if the signal is low 6-10 volts, then it could be your starter seizing up, causing high resistances. Also ensure you have proper grounding between your engine and the chassis or battery.
