Is the engine from a 95 integra LS compatible with a 94 integra LS
So my timing belt snapped, and engine blew up (pretty much).
I am getting quotes from "pros" to get engine replaced, ballpark of $2500
Aren't junkyard engines like 400 - 500? And I can either pay this one guy from JDMChicago like 700 to do it all (bunch of ppl from JC go with him) this one Mexican guy like 500, or a Friend of some friends that'll do it for 200 + beer. haha
Anyways....
I looked at all Junkyards and apparently there are no 94 Engines out there, just 95.
I know everyone makes swaps and all that crazy stuff, but i just need my car running...like now.
So, if I were to just "slap" on the 95 Engine into my 94 Teggy... will it work? Is the ECU different? OBD 1 OBD 2 going on here?
K thx.

yes you can use a motor from a 95 integra .. you can also use any integra motor from 1990-2001 all you have to do is put the parts from your motor on the other one (distributor , intake , exhasut, alternator , fuel etc)....good luck
I swapped a 2000 b18b1 into my 1990 integra ls and the only thing i had to change was the fan switch so you should be right with an engine from a 95, i doubt anything would have been changed in a year of production
94-95' OBD1
96-99 OBD2A
00+ OBD2B
stick with the basics if you just want to have your car running again go with the 95 motor easy swap no need to touch any harness or ecu
if you have B18B then go B18B the sec you start going with different motor like B18C1/5 B20..

is your check engine on? which ecu do you use?
2000+ has IMM in it. and theres a lot more work than just the straight swap with the 95' motor.
They are the same motor any way you look at it. You can do a direct swap and wouldn't have to change anything. The only thing I would do is compare parts from each motor and use the best ones.

Direct bolt in. Nothing needs changed, except typical swap parts. Timing belt, water pump, tensioner (which apparently you failed to replace on you previous engine). You could do plugs, wires, cap and rotor if you feel like it.
And it was acutally the tensioner, not the entire belt, belt looked pretty new.

But thx to all for answering my question, now i gotta find an Engine that isnt greasy and leaky looking.
Realistically you could probably pick up a cheap cheap LS head, swap it on and be good to go.
But you could have been lucky. Timing belt snaps, and your car dies, thus, everything is saved. Just put on a new belt and your back up and running. (after you fix the tensioner of course.) reason I am telling you this, both cases has happened to me. GL.
you might even be lucky and have no issues with the head thats on the car. Wont know til you pull the head, inspect the valves and pistons. If all checks out, new headgasket, tensioner, belt and go to town!
as far as who to install it.. id go with ur option #1.. just sounds more legit.. im not saying that the mexican guy cant install it right, but will he warranty his work or has he even done integras before? also, the friend of a friend will be my second choice, but i wouldnt give them the beer until after the swap is done!! lol
