Hey guys i bought an 1988 Honda prelude about a month ago and my check engine light is on but when i go to get codes i have no Flashing LED the car does start and run any help would be great.

 

You're not doing it right.

Are you using the procedure outlined in the Service Manual?

 

yeah im not trying to get codes with the car running i turn the key 2 clicks and pull up the carpet revealing the ecu, there should be a blinking LED That tells the code and like 8 steady blinks would mean code 8 right? and i have no blinking led

 

ecu might be done for....what does it do when you try to start it?

 

It starts, it takes a while to fire up but it starts. is a ECU just a plug and play thing?
