water in my trunk!?!?
so its been raining here a bit and there is hella water in my trunk where the spare tire is im going to check the antenna tomorrow but my question is do integras have a common problem with leaks like that? what are some places to check for leaks
yes, taillight gaskets are the #1 cause of this. may or may not be your problem but get in the back with a flashlight and the plastic off. have your buddy hose the car down, you will see where the water is coming in
if it's the gaskets you can either
a. buy new ones
b. use rtv if the leak is around a bolt

I had the same problem in my 4dr DC. I discovered that my leak was the gasket coupled with the antenna drain gasket and the rear sunroof draingasket. The main issue was the taillight gasket. I just used some roofing sealant to solve my problems. I used a product called NP1. You can only get it at a roofing supply company... I am a roof estimator so I just used what was readily available to me. You can try and use some other silicone based sealant. Good luck with solving the problem
yeah bro this is too common i just bought my car a few months ago and never cared to check the bottom of the trunk until recently when i wanted to put some tools that might come in handy one day. and BOOOM rust and water all over the place.
don't the np1 you used is really sticky and flexable. works great around flashing which is your first clue it will work great on a car. most silicone based caulks aren't as sticky of flexible. other members will be a lot happier with rtv or a spin off a quality roofing caulk / sealant. an entire tube of what you used retails for 5 bucks around here. painters caulk is what, 2.50? totally not worth 2.50 to cheap skate it.

I would say your on a winner there. Over time the foam gaskets for the tail lights start to deteriorate and then the drain channels in your trunk end up pouring water into your tail lights. It happened to me so i used marine silicone to make a new gasket and it hasnt leaked since. But i agree with the other posts, other than tail lights, it could be the sun roof drain hoses. I found one of mine had a bunch of dirt blocking the rubber hose joiner thingy
, My problem as because of a accident, improper repairs to sheet metal that plastic housing was mounted to "twisted" the housing.
I "flattened" the sheet metal and replaced the housing, [old one had permanent twist].
I have fixed ones that had missing rubber flaps or ones that where just clogged up keeping the flaps from closing.
If you have already checked the other things and can not find the spot water is getting in, remove the rear clip so you can inspect the vent, the clip will have to be removed to repair or replace the vent anyway.
tAcOmAz FiNeSt, because you have moisture inside the tail lights does not necessarily mean the tail light gaskets are leaking, it does mean the lens seal is bad or the bulb holder gaskets/seals are bad. 94

First is to determine if the moisture is getting in because of a bad lens seal or bad bulb holder gasket/seals.
The bulb holders are easy enough to check, do they "screw in" to the lens housing snugly, fit tight, are the gasket/seals in good shape?
The lens seal is a little harder, sometimes you can just eyeball the seam and see a gap/hole in the "glue" that holds the two parts together, smaller holes can be hard to find, I will use soapy water along the seams and blow some compressed air into the lens through a bulb hole a hole in the seam will bubble.
You can also just run a new bead of a good quality sealer along the seam, it is what I did with mine, then use a blow dryer through a bulb hole to dry out any moisture.
I have not had a problem with mine again for the last 5-6 years, except having to polish the lens. 94

if water is in your tailights then its the tailights not the gasket. i had the whole car fill up with 3 inches of water. i ripped the whole interior apart trying to find the leak. i fixed the gaskets, cheked the drain tubes, took tailight apart and resealed it. i eventually got tired of it and just drilled a whole through the bottom of the tailight so that the inside of it wouldnt fill uop and leak into the car....whos got a 98-01 passenger tailight for me? i cant seem to find one
