Can't really help you much, but if it was me, I'd stick to keeping it clean. I've never seen a really clean 2nd gen 'lude in person, and I think it would stand out. There's a lot of money to put into maintenance/restoration...I know if things didn't need service on my '95, all of the performance upgrades would come MUCH quicker.
Work on paint, body, and cleaning and restoring interior/exterior. Keep the engine bay nice and clean and the engine running smooth. You can always get the highest-performance replacement parts like spark plugs and air filters, but I think there's a lot of satisfaction in owning a classic Honda like that, no matter how fast it goes.
