Default 93 del sol - idles low and stalls or won't start without pushing down the gas pedal

Ok I have a small issue with my wifes del sol and I can't figure it out.

When the car starts it idles really low and stalls or just won't start at all without a little gas pedal. Once you rev it up pass 1000 rpms it stays running just fine and idles correctly from then on.

2 weeks ago I had a crack in the radiator and I had to replace it. I made sure there was no air in the system so I don't think that is the problem. I also did a compression check on it and got 180 150 165 175 across. The car has 295,000 miles on it so I know its up there in age. Any ideas on stuff to check?

I checked the antifreeze and its fine. Check the spark plugs and they are new and so are the wires. stock NGKs. So where should I go from here guys? I'm not getting any codes on the car I checked that as well.

Thanks in advance.

You might try replacing the fuel filter if it is old. Make sure the idle is set correctly. You may also want to check/clean the idle valves and TB.

The low compression (150 psi) in one cylinder could be the problem.

I was thinking that to but then I didn't shut off fuel so I might have been washing the walls. I just got to hold gas pedal down to get no fuel right?

When you say idle valves can you give me a little more detail? I'll get a new fuel filter because I don't know when that was changed.

ok i changed out fuel filter and car is still idleing bad at startup but if i give it gas it gas for a second it will start idling fine again. idles around 700 rpms. Its weird that it will idle fine if I give it gas for a second. Other wise it could stall at start up. Anyone else go a suggeston? I'm thinking maybe FITV or IAC?

I don't think it would be the FITV since it idles fine after gas right after start up. Could be a dirty IACV. Could it be dirty injectors?

yes just take it out and clean it with some carb cleaner. just be careful not to go crazy spraying it. if that does not work you can buy one on here for really cheap. if i have an extra one you can have it for free you just have to pay shipping. i will contact you if i do.

There are a few very good how-to's floating around for cleaning the IACV and FITV. I just entered "clean honda iacv" in google and the first result was this: https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/%2A%2A%2Ahow-clean%2A%2A%2A-your-iacv-k-idle-air-control-valve-1575913/ Second was this: http://www.superhonda.com/forum/f94/...r-iacv-144463/

....and there are many more. Be sure to clean your TB while you're at it.

Looks like its the head gasket. Wife drove the car home today and stated that it was losing power I started it up and noticed that it was smoking out the exhaust(she wouldn't know this I guess lol) So I pulled the head and I'll have it back together tomorrow. Thanks for all the help guys and I'm going to go ahead and clean the TB and IAC.
