coil spring compressor optional when removing old suspension coils?
I purchased some progress coilovers for my civic eg hatch, and i am wondering if i can get away with taking out the old suspension without using spring compressors. I have read some write ups that say you must compress the old spring before removing it or to take the cap off or something, and some write ups dont say anything about it. And if i dont compress it what will happen... i wont be able to take it out?
thanks
thanks
ur probally chop off your hand..
i kno that the front ones you can take off easily with out a compressor.
Its still going to snap but jst try to keep your hand away from it.
The back ones have more pressure, so i did use a compressor....
you can rent one for cheap at autozone or kragen's...

thanks. also, when i was trying to detach the rear shock from the lca, and i was undoing the 14 mm bolt that goes througt the lca, it was really stuck on there. i gave it all i got and it snapped the bolt head off- any advice? im thinking im just gonna drill all the way through it and then put a new bolt in..
to remove the complete strut you don't need a spring compressor . to remove the spring from the strut you need one unless you want to die. use a sawzal or cut off wheel to cut the other side of the bolt also . then it might be better to get a new bushing and bolt from honda . it can be hard to press the old bushings out but i think it would take forever to try and drill it out.

As for the strut removal use a compressor to avoid bodily injury,it's not worth the risk.
