2005 EP3, check engine light came on
Whats up, i have a 2005 EP3 with 145,987 miles on the clock. I was driving this morning on the freeway when all of a sudden my car jerked abruptly and the check engine light came on. I immediately decided to take the car to my trusted mechanic and along the way the car would jerk sporadically. Once i got to the shop they plugged in the OBD scanner and got a code, they told me it was a vtec solonoid or something like that? They are very knowledgeable with Honda/Acura but their English isnt the best so its hard to understand them. They said they will erase the code, if it comes back then bring the car back in and they will confirm it then perform the necessary repairs. My question is have any of you guys every experienced this and know what it is? Is it my tranny going bad? Also is this a good idea that they erased the code and i just keep driving around and if it comes back then take in? Or should they fix it right now? Thanks
Prolly not the tranny. The code would tell you where your car is having a problem and if it wasn't something random, erasing a code won't solve the issue. How's the car drive now?
answers/input to my problem. ^
Thanks for the input guys, turns out my car was low on oil and is burning oil. Thats why the check engine light came on. My mechanic erased the code and said if it comes back he will confirm it then fix the vtec solonoid or something like that cause thats what the code was for. So far the car is running good ever since i added oil. I do have 145K+ miles...didnt know i was burning oil already. Good rule of thumb to always check oil level.
