NO, not well anyway

you need to concern yourself with CFM.

In all reality, you could spray a car with a 30 gallon compressor, but your probably gonna have to stop every panel or more often, cause youve sucked it dry, it will never stop running and unless you have a good water seperator, dryer and dessicants youll probably get some water in your lines. You should think about cfm. The average paint gun uses up to 15 cfm. a 30 gallon compressor is probably only pushing out 7-9, meaning your gun, no matter how much pressure its getting is not going to have the proper air flow to spray efficiently and effectively. You can do it with a small compressor if you have to, its just gonna take a whole lot longer, your gonna eat up more material cause of all the pressure changes and your gonna wear yourself out. You wont have the constant air pressure so you better watch your gauges or materal will just come dribbling out and that will suck. Watch for signs of water in the lines. Only do it if you have to, cause its really gonna suck.

this is true.

but Im also right. its just not a good idea to spray a car with such a small compressor. espeically when he goes to lay the clear. He needs to keep moving with clear, needs to keep it wet and he also doesnt wanting to be having pressure drop, and pressure surges when spraying any of his material, it can just make for quite a mess. I mean its doable, its just a terrible pain in the butt. Life is alot easier, and your body, prep, and paint work are alot easier with a larger compressor that can supply your air demand.

I have an Ingersoll Rand that's pretty good that I used on my car. They have industrial size to portable and they even sell used equipment so you could find a pretty good deal. Check out the website.
