HLVP Turbine system
So I'm thinking about spraying my own car, now the only set back i have now is my compressor isn't really rated to do any kind of heavy spraying. My thought was going with a HVLP turbine system. has anyone ever used this type of system, and also replaced the siphon style paint gun with a gravity style?

Re: HLVP Turbine system
hvlp just uses more volume instead of high pressure, depending on how big of a tank you have you still might end up running in to issues with your compressor trying to keep up. If you can keep a constant 29 psi at the gun you should be fine, other wise there wont be enough air and the paint wont get atomized enough. hope this helps and good luck with the paint job!

Re: HLVP Turbine system
a proper air compressor that can handle the psi ( around 30) and the cubic space. You will need a minimum 3-5 horsepower air compressor, minimum 15-22 CFM (per gun).
You will also need a air regulator
Proper hoses are a must, You want to maintain as much air pressure as possible.
air lines from compressor to booth = 1 1/2 " pipe
air lines into the booth = 3/4 " pipe
regulators and coalescing filters = 22 CFM minimum
Booth spray hoses = 20-25 ft - 3/8"
HVLP Quick connects ( optional )
Say you buy a hvlp such as a sata jet 3000
it will need to be ran at 8-10 psi at the air cap (30 psi at regulator for gun)

Re: HLVP Turbine system
word, so what about turbine systems? Compressor-less systems like this for paint...

Also don't the siphon style guns suck if needing to spray downward at a 90 degree. Lets say spraying a hood or roof top.
