What size helicoil do I need for the timing belt tensioner hole on a b17a1? Or could I just re-tap the hole?

Take the bolt out and match the bolt to a helicoil kit, I had the same issue.

My dad was thinking about getting a longer bolt to put in the hole but I'm not liking the idea much...plus it seems like a whole lot of meat would be taken out if i did the helicoil route.....I'm starting to think about taking it to a machine shop....any ideas or reassurance would be appreciated, thanks.

Dang after a month its still not done??? This is like a twenty minute job, match the bolt up to a helicoil kit, don't drill any farther or use a longer bolt. Thats just dumb, just make sure you do not over tirghten the bolt. If you over tighten it, you will have the same issue.

Yeah, I have problems with coming up with the money for parts. got the job done a while ago. thanks for the help. would anyone happen to know if the Tensioner spring comes with the timing belt kit? I hope so...the reason everything was stripped out is the previous owner used a prybar and brute force to get the tension on the belt....had no spring on it....
