FWIW the ringlands are still there so I doubt it is a tune issue.

The post above reflects my initial thought; skipped a tooth on the belt or timing belt broke.

Sucks for the owner. As is the game though... Can't blame the tuner for hardware failure.

it worked for a year right?
you should ask around what he was doing when this hapened.

because while i thought i was driving normally, there was a word goin around the street that my car sees more redline than type-r, lol which was a surprise to me at first but then i realized that there are 3 traffic lights on my way to work and i dont let off the gas at all but i dont misshift or overrev either lol
and then i was getting 19.5 MPG just driving to work and back... in a stock LS.
or 35MPG when driving like a typical driver does.

btw that'll buff out...
but like many people do, they blame the last person that touched the car for any problems they have afterwards.

ALL MOTOR, you "sound" like you're lacking confidence in your tuning skills. I can't believe you're even defending yourself by explaining how you tuned and whatnot.

Anyone that knows what they're doing will clearly know that is not in any way a tuning error. Especially not after it has been running for a year.

I would have told the guy to shove that valve head into his *** and left it at that. No need to defend yourself man.

As others said the ring lands are there, look like something else to me. The mileage shows that its not a tuning issue in my opinion, it would have never lasted that long on a bad tune.

LOL at this thread,

Retainer actually split in half dropping the valve however the other pistons that were not affected by a valve had some damage on the very edge of the crown aswell as behind the top ring.

But at the end of the day who knows what the cars past was I actually own the car now but was not the owner when this happened. Derek In the past I stood up for you and saw you as a friend but then I quickly realized how Big headed you were about your setup, I like to associate with modest people. And I hope I am not classified as one of the guys who "don't know anything" because we both know that's a lie

FINALLY THE TRUTH..."from red's mouth - detenation causes that to a valve"

In all reality - lets be honest.. you have no reason what so ever to talk trash about me.. never had..and never will. The people who dont know anything comment was directed towards the idiots who just ride the coat tails of the haters.. I never had a problem with you, you wanted my help on a number of occurences and also asked me to tune your car.. and i even said i would.. i dont doubt my tunes.. and ya.. i'm very humble to a point.. when people stir **** and start rumors or lies about me or my setup is when i become cocky and not so modest.. I've bent over backwards for alot of people and have been ****ed over every which way from wednesday...maybe the next person to apologize should be you, danny stepped up, lets see how many people know their wrong and how long it takes to admit it.

my tunes are fine.. - my car alone proves that...the people on a world wide forum know me more then local people.. which is a damn shame...cause i was never nothing but nice to everyone on SNI.. and i get my name dragged through the mud, and for what.. most of the people who hate on me are mad cause they couldn't be with the girl i am with now..others are just jealous.. and others.. just hate cause their friends hate.

People will grow up sooner or later.. until, i'll leave the rest to karma.

To everyone else, i really do appericate the truth and kind comments guys, i do, i love the all motor forum for this reason of being able to back up its own..hopefully one day i can not have to deal with local idiots who trash talk for no reason.

I for one agree with all posts above this about the engine jumping time. As for the damage you see on the outer edge of the piston and behind the top ring land, jumped timing would explain all of that, pre-ignition is a bitch... there has been a lot of **** talking lately and its plain dumb, we all used to be friends and Derek and I have done a lot for all of the "cool kids" in baton rouge and when Derek needed ya'll the most, ya'll ****ed him over. You were talking **** tonight, you ride the cool kids coat tails just as much as anyone else. How many mechanical engine failures have been blamed on your tuning now Derek? Oh yes I remember now 3... Lets see a stretched rod bolt, definitely your fault. The above motor was one, and a broken timing belt got blamed on you horrible tuning abilities as well. I for one am tired of all of the childish bullshit in Baton Rouge, We will be at the track on Oct 3rd. Bring your cars we will put an end to all this. Just don't cry when all your turbo d's get beat by a silly n/a Honda.

is it very normaly for when a valve drops and causes that kind of disaster to spread to other cylenders easy ... thats why that other pistons where damged also

Hmmm, lets think about this for a minute. Valve drops, gets smacked around against the cyclinder and head, breaks it down to small little peices. Then we see these other little peices on other cyclinders and where they damaged, and it obviously the tune.

All Motor, I've followed things you have posted in this forum, and I specifically click any theads you start to read up on it because of the good info you post will benefit me or one of my honda friends in some way. I haven't seen you post dynos of other cars you have tuned, but I have no doubt its top notch. Just remember, that everyone goes after and hates the person on top, so take that for what its worth in your area.

Looks like a hardware failure to me. If it was strictly tuning and detonation then there'd be pitting around the edges of the pistons and there would be no sharp edges anywhere as metal evaporated.

Bone stock GSR is a whopping 10:1CR. You'd have to be a complete moron to botch the A/F ratio and ignition timing enough to cause a mechanical failure like that. 10:1 naturally aspirated is very forgiving IMO.

For those that think you cannot get particles of damaged piston/valves in other cylinders than the one that originally sustained the damage, you are wrong.
