I just picked up this car and its a 93 Civic EX with the stock d16. Its a 5 speed. The trans is making a odd sound when I accelerate. The sound its making sounds like a go kart picking up speed. The trans only makes this sounds while I am accelerating. When I press the clutch in the noise goes away. Does anybody have a idea on what this could be.

 

Is this a easy fix or is it better to get a new trans? Any ideas

 

input/mainshaft bearing is probably bad, could actually be 1 or more of 5 bearings in the tranny. If its not grinding or popping out of gear i'd just pull the tranny, see which bearings are bad and replace them.
