Default Deciding on a few parts, opinions/tech info welcome

Hey fellas,

Im saving a few bucks and getting my list set up for a build (top end) im going to do this summer when I get back from school. Im pretty set on almost every part im going to put into it. This head and induction setup WILL be used with a Turbo build I am doing as well....I just feel like having some NA fun till i get my block built.

Here is my setup as it sits now:
82mm GSR block
GSR crank and Rods
82mm RS machine PR3 pistons (11.4:1 CR)
Stock HG
B16 head
ITR cams w/ s2 gears
Stock B16 IM,TB and injectors
RMF narrow header
Yowaii SS intake
B16 tranny w/ LSD
exedy streetlite flywheel
exedy stage 2 clutch/PP

184whp 132tq

Here is what I plan on adding:
Blox competition B cams
Supertech VS and Retainers
Skunk 2 Pro series IM
Blox 68mm TB? (need some help here, should i go bigger with a 72mm - 76mm?)
---The IM and TB will be portmatched
I have to decide what injectors to run with this setup as well. Im up for suggestions there too.

If i think of anything else I was planning on doing or might want some opinions on Ill edit this post.

Thanks

What are you looking for..

I'd go with a performerX manifold... first off.. your still around the 1.9/1.8 area.
Pro1 cams witha 68mm TB and i think you'll break 200 as you sit.
Run a 3'' exhaust and you'll thank me later.

I'm flying up to seattle to do some tuning at the end of this month or next month.. about 10 guys are flying me up, so if you want, while i'm up i can give you a buzz and tune your car for you..

Iwish I could take you up on that offer but im not even in the state of WA except for 3 months a year. I go to school and play baseball in Jamestown ND so my car is under wraps and stored right now til im home over winter break.
Who is flying you up? speedfactory guys? fluid guys? intec? Just wondering cause I get all my tuning done by james at speedfactory in tacoma. He seems to do a good job...as far as i know lol.

Just a few questions for ya, just to get your thoughts/ideas on things...
Why the performer x manifold? I have heard its not the best for Higher rpm, especially when ill be going 500+whp turbo in the next year.

I have heard the pro 1 cams are a small step above the Blox b's, but I have been told they are harsher on the valvetrain and it is not worth the extra couple hundred bucks, i would just like your input on this.

Pro1's aren't harsh on anything, they are just like every other cam, the ramp speed is different but for what they are, they are a great cam, i wouldn't recommend **** to ou.

I didn't know you were going turbo..i'd go with a pro series manifold or victorX ..but if your a year away from your setup , why worry about it now...performerX is a great n/a manifold..and your right, it doesn't carry power above 8400rpms.. the runners are just too long.

its a local group of guys.. one of them is a buddy of mine.. said he's just tired of hack job tunings he's been getting.

WHOA easy man I never said you recommending **** to me, I just wanted a reason as to why. Meant nothing bad by it.

The whole reason I am even buying parts is soley for my turbo build in the future, I just thought it would be fun to play around with them on an NA application and see what I can get out of what I have.

With that in mind thats why I put down blox b's and the s2 pro im, they both carry power u to 9k, and the cams actually carry up to 9500 with the right setup.

Thanks for the help though have fun in WA

Oh alright. It is expensive to get good tuning up here for some reason. I paid 300 last time for a crome pro w/ wideband on a dynapak and it only took like an hour to do. But all retunes are 100 so i guess its not too bad of a deal. What program do you tune with? Ectune like your avatar? Ive always wanted to try out neptune but no one tunes it up here. all crome or hondata it seems like.

I think ill end up with the 68mm TB and Skunk 2 Pro IM portmatched since i play on running 2.5" IC piping and 68mm is slightly larger then that.
I though about running 3" but the S2 IM is only portable to 75mm

I dont like hondata, as i dont really support them, but i do tune their software.
I do ectune, neptune, crome, uberdata and others.. i also tune domestics as well.

Thats alot.. i only charge 150-200 for a full street tune and normally, on the dyno require no longer then 30 mins for extra tweaks.. i dont charge to retune unless you've changed alot.

Im not a fan of hondata as well. Whats your thought on ectune vs. crome vs neptune? I tune domestics as well...lol carburated domestics. 1970 chevelle w/ a 355 smallblock stock crank and rods w/ 10:1 CR making 500hp.

you should try to check out speedfactory while your there. they have a 8 sec 1100whp hatch and 700+whp single running right now. its a piece of art. they have a nice setup for a dyno and shop too
