Icon2 3rd gear grinds a little only at higher rpms???

wth? I have a gsr motor with trans and 2nd to 3rd shifts no problem when just driving normal. When I open it up to the mid to high rpms, 3rd is hard to get into without some type of grinding until the rpms go down a little. Brand new stage 4 competition clutch and resurfaced lightened flywheel.

1. What should I do to stop the grinding?
2. What should I fix?
3. How should I shift? (gently or rip through the gears)?

One thing that you could do if you havent already that helped one of my old cars out is to uprgrade the old oem motor mounts to something a little stiffer.
i went from oem to the 85a innovatives and they helped out ALOT.

1. First check to make sure there is no air in your clutch system. Bleed out the clutch if you haven't already.

Second, adjust the clutch pedal freeplay.

If doing this does not solve your problem, other than a costly rebuild there is not much you can do to stop the grinding other than preventive measures, like changing out the MTF, and overall being gentle on it.

Like I said earlier, you can always rebuild the tranny.

2. Like MShonda said, changing out the motor mounts and shifter bushings can really help your shifting. It will feel much more precise and "gated". Fluid changes at factory recommended intervals will also help. I have heard of many people using GM synchromesh fluid and having success with smoothing out grinding.

3. Like I said in 1. you should always be gentle on it. Transmissions are mechanical units, the harder you are on it, the faster it will wear out. Shifting in low RPMS will also prolong the life of your transmission.

Thanks guys. I was thinking of changing my oil first, and if that doesn't work, then I will bleed the lines. Hopefully the oil works. It's a stock gsr. Maybe I'll just buy a different trans with a kaaz lsd.
