1990 Acura Legend Alarm/Power Door Lock Problems
A shop did an ok job installing an alarm in my 90 Legend. They also did all the stereo work.
Well, the stereo work was garbage, so I took it all out. After I removed it all, I noticed a while later, the alarm didn't lock/unlock the doors, nor did the switch on the door panel.
Thought it might be the PDL Control Unit... wasn't it. There are 3 wires that tie into the wiring clip that plugs into the PDLCU. Two of them I assume go to the alarms brain. (Python BTW, not sure of model.)
The clips they used are the ones that clip over an existing wire, and splice into it. But these are the ones where you can plug a male end into.
Well one wire is missing from the 3, and I remember there used to be a wire that went into the fuse box that they added, and tied into a fuse, for I assume the PDL fuse.
Though, there is a spot up in the foot well where a ground wire used to go. So where does that 3rd wire go, and is that even the reason why the locks don't even work?
I could really, really use the help with this one. I don't know electrical stuff at all, 'cept stereo.
Thanks in advance.
*Note - The alarm still arms, and if I open the doors, it still goes off like it should. It's just that the PDL's don't work, nor the trunk release button. (Tied into the same fuse) ((Fuse is fine BTW))

Is there any way you could post pics of the 3 wire harness you are referring to? What color was the wire that went to the fusebox?
With the switch not working, the first place I would check is the harness at the backside of the switch. When you removed the stereo, did you take out the door speakers? Did the shop even install speakers in your doors?

The "3 wire harness" isn't a harness, it's just the normal wires that tie into the cars factory PDLCU. It's just that one is missing.
The switch worked fine till I started removing the wires. I didn't remove the speakers, just the amp, broken head unit, and the mess of wires they left behind.
Stereo is fine now. I just need to know what that extra wire that ties into the PDLCU harness goes, that's all. And I can't get pics, sorry.

I'm just kinda confused... If I was installing an alarm on this vehicle, all I would need to do for your locks is tap into the green/white (- lock) and green/red (- unlock) in the driver's kick panel. There would be no need to cut, or add any wires to the fuse box. Even if a wire had been pulled from the fuse box, I would think that your door switch would still function for locking and unlocking. Have you checked fuse #5, its a 20 amp fuse. From there, I would check your door switches to make sure they are still plugged in securely...
All the PDLCU wires are there. two wires from the alarm are tied into the PDLCU harness, this is I imagine for the right and left doors to unlock. Well there is a 3rd tie in clip on one of the other PDLCU harness, that is missing it's wire.
There were 3 wires spliced into for the Python alarm. There are two still plugged in, the 3rd is missing, and it either went to a ground, or plugged into a fuse in the fuse box.
Alarm works, power door locks do not. Not from the remote or the panel. Panel was never removed, and it worked before this mystery wire was removed.
None of the fuses are blown. And the wire that went to the fuse box, had this little metal tab that went around one of the two tabs on the square fuse, this is I assume, for power or something.
