Icon2 2010 Accord - road noise

Good news--I have a new red coupe in my garage.
Bad news--I want to leave it there and drive my Camry because it is almost painfully noisy.
I'm not talking about tire noise. On smooth pavement I can hear the "sing" of the OEM tires. I can live with that till I replace them.
I'm talking about a sonic "thud" when the car rolls over bumps or uneven joints in the street pavement. It's the kind of noise you get when you are driving next to a car with a booming stereo in it. You may not hear the music but you hear and feel the pulse of the subwoofer. I can hear the thud and feel the pulse of the noise inside the passenger cabin.
What can be done? Thanks!

you can add damping material... like that used for car stereo set ups. other than that, you have a car that trades weight for extra build quality.
The sounds do not bother me one bit

My dad used to own a Camry up till two months ago, and I honestly really can't tell the difference in quietness. Tires, as you pointed out are a factor. I've heard people who now use Goodyear Eagles and it sounds much better (over the OEM Michelins).

With that said, which coupe did you get? 18" wheels? That's to be expected IMO. Low profile tires and big wheels = noise. If you got the 17" wheel, Honda runs on 225/50, while Toyota's 17s are 215/55 as an example. IMO, that's the biggest factor.

That's not to say Honda could have damp the cars better. It's already 3,600lbs. I'm sure we don't want it as heavy as a TL.

Exactly... I think maybe some folks get the car thinking it's in a class of car that is equal to some of the more well known german cars. It's not true, despite what the price tag might say to you. it is a completely different philosophy in car building. Personally, I dont need double and triple weather striping, additional sound damping material. I just need a quick car that does weight like a pig
