Default 1980 Honda Civic 1300-Carb Rebuild

Hey all,

Just had a couple questions. I just purchased a 1980 Honda Civic 1300 for $200 from a nice local guy, and wanted to do a couple things to have it running even better than it seems to. Does anyone know a quality rebuild kit for the carburetor? I've searched and found quite a few of them, but i've never done any carb work, so i'm not certain about what a proper "kit" would entail.

I'm also wanting to replace the fuel filter. Thanks in advance.

Just from personal experience, your best bet would be to convert to a Weber carb.

Heres a company that sold me a conversion kit and i do believe they have one for your car. It usually runs around $100 w/o carb or $375 with carb.

Look for a name brand rebuild kit. They come with an exploded view picture so you can get it back together. Some kit's come with a new float some don't. Usually the higher priced ones have the float included. Note the float level and how to set it!!! Very important!!

I would also draw out the vacuum lines on a piece of paper or pictures of them for reference. Also don't just mix the bolts/screw's up note where they go.(Some are shorter than others)

The fuel filter you want to get is an exact replacement one. The routing of the fuel lines matters so put it back to how you found it. Take pic's, you can't have to many of them for reference.

And Good Luck!!!

PS: the weber conv is a nice way to go too!
