i drive a civic si and my car shuts off when i turn it on but if i crank it again it turns on and sometimes while driving it or leaving it on it shuts off by itself what can it be i checked spark plugs for flooding n their good wat can it be i need help???

 

Any CEL codes? A bad ICM inside the distributor is a common cause of stalling. You may want an auto parts store to test it, and the coil.

Also inspect the spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.

 

I checked the spark plugs their good no code just throwing idle air control valve but i got that fixed ...someone told me might be the distributor can it be the whole piece or just the cap and rotor???or coil

 

Exactly the same problem with my civic ex....what was wrong with yours??

 

If the car starts then turns off, than it`s more than likely the dizzy. Check it. Check the rotor, cap, coil, and than the distributor itself for any cracks.

 

I had same problem with my car and the guy told me to change my head gasket n it worked I hope it help you

 

I have never in my life ever hear that a headgasket would cause the car to shut off...OP, check the distributor...

 

Turns out that my crankshaft sensor was not working.
