Magnetic Numbers for autocross?
I've been scouring the internet and I can't find magnetic number that don't cost 60$ or more!! I'm a cheapskate!
There's an autocross on the 22nd in Downtown Seattle at the Port of Seattle. Does anyone know of a place I can get the magnetic decals on the internet or a shop in the seattle area that does something like this.
I give my appreciation ahead of time.

Most sets are expensive because there's a lot of dang numbers in a universal kit. Typically 4 copies of 0-3 and two of everything else, plus class. That's a lot of material and vinyl. If your number doesn't change, it's way cheaper to make them yourself.
Where's the most convenient place to buy a sheet of magnetic material? can I pick some up at a Home depot? or Lowes or something?
Edit: I didn't realize "Tap Plastics" was a business. lol.

Any crafts store such as Jo-Ann Fabrics or Michaels.

You can also find some sheets at Home Depot or Lowes. They are used to cover up an A/C register under your furniture or in the ceiling. There are a few per package, and they are a nice size, maybe 7" x 14" or so.
contact Brett@SoloRacer.com. I got mine from him quickly and they were under $60 if I recall correctly. Great product at a very good price. His customer service is top notch. And he's a fellow H-Ter as well.

I bought magnetic sheeting from Michael's craft store, then I chose the font I liked from the Windows folder. I printed them out, traced them onto the magnetic sheeting, and cut them out. And then since my car is yellow, I put black contact paper over the white numbers so they're black now. Works like a charm, and for far less $ than the ones you buy online.
?? This like comes up every month or so?? Some needs to make a sticky thread with all this Auto-X info in it.
But again for the record, you can get numbers made and mounted onto mag sheets at nearly all Sign Shops in your area. Look in the phone books for sign shop that list viynl lettering and go there. Try to use a fat font type and nothing to artsy fartsy since people 40 to 100 yards away are trying to see your numbers. 8"-10" numbers and at least 3"-5" letters should be fine and please use a color that stands out from your cars base paint under noon sun. If not don't bitch about not getting the correct time cause they can't read your numbers clearly.

Call your local sign shop. They can make U custum numbers just tell then what U want it to look like. This is what I did and it cost about $30. U can even have them put your local club logo, or the SSA logo, or what ever U want on it.

When do I become a real member?? I can't post on all boards, and can only do a few a day

I went to the local craft store, Micheals, and got a fat roll of magnetic paper for 10 bucks. Print black numbers on my computer and then traced them.

Another option is the Action Writer. This is what used car lots use to write on the windows of their cars. You can use it to write your car number on your windows. It's like shoe polish except (a) it rubs off very easily with a dry cloth or paper towel - just like a whiteboard marker, and (b) it doesn't run if it gets wet. You can get a big bottle for around ten bucks and it will last you forever.

As to keeping your number forever. In my area CFR reserves certin numbers for Noivce class drivers untill you move into a regular class and then you can pick for what's left over for numbers to use up to 999. As long as your a member you keep your number all season and have the rights to it next season, unless you want to change it.
I got my magnetic sheet off http://www.mcmaster.com
I got the 100lb pulling power (1/32") white Vinyl back. It cost me $4.50/ft (24 3/4" wide). I picked up three feet, and had enough room for some big numbers on my car (3 digits both sides), class letters (C5), and some big numbers for my brother (2 digits, both sides), and class letters for my brother (C5).
anyways, I hope that helps.

at this autox, I had JUST made up the numbers the night before, so I didn't have time to make the class, or other side. I just made that one side.
