A couple weeks ago I posted about my tranny going on me and it being at Acura. I was 3 months out of warantee and pissed because it was rebuilt by Acura about 4 months prior. So I bitched and bitched and the guy said he will see what he can do.
Got the call today and Acura is going to put a Brand new tranny, new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and starter on for free. Also, they are giving me a car till it is all done. Just wanted to say how pleased I am with acura, being I am out of Warantee. They kept a customer that was going to switch.

Anyway, I guess there is no point the the thread accept Acura is a great company.

Ive worked for Acura for 8 years and not once have they ever told us to "re-build" a tranny. Just replace them. Why was yours re-built to start with?

 

Metro Acura in Montclair is an awesome place too. They replaced my tranny case/clutch/synchros/pressure plate and flywheel on my R with no questions asked. !

THERE IS, AND AN INEFFECTIVE ONE AT THAT.

 

I the stories I hear on H-T about Acura keeping your car for months for tranny work scared me. But when it came time to rebuild my tranny, the local Acura dealer had it done in 2 days; brought it in Wednesday morning, picked it up Thursday afternoon.

But on to topic, Acura seems to have its good blood and bad blood. I've heard of some bastard *** dealerships, and then I've heard stories like yours.

Yeah, like someone said up top, the first time they had my car for a month. Then they said it would be 6 months till they get a new tranny and they were paying for my rental. Thats why they rebuilt it. I am very pleased with Acuras service right now

 

How long is the wait on a new tranny. My understanding is there is no ETA.

 

I wish my initial experience with Acura Customer Support had been as good when i was having clutch problems a couple of months ago. The first dealership I went to was no help and Acura Customer Support didn't even want to create a case for me. The only good sugestion I got out of them was to try another dealership, which I did and what a difference. They took care of everything under warranty. Basically if I hadn't found a good dealer like Mike Harvey in Burlingame, I'd probably be out a bunch of money.
