Default ITR Automatic?

Someone said that dropping a B18C5 engine in a 91 GS (Formerly a B18A1) with an automatic transmission was possible. Is this true? Can an auto trans handle the high redline of an ITR engine?

Why couldn't it be done? That would be kick *** for bracket racing... You could hit your dial in time on the mark every time

While the idea itself may not be the best the engine would fit and bolt onto a auto tranny as the itr motor is just another b series motor. Gearing on the U.S auto also would not be making use of the engines full potential. Now if you were adament on keeping your auto you could try to get a hold of a 90-93 japanese integra b16a auto tranny that may help out a bit. Just my .02

This is a guy asking an honest question.

Sure, it sounds like the people he hangs around aren't properly informed, but he's trying to find out the correct info.

I see nothing wrong with that.

This is what an ignorant post looks like:

"yo i juss gotz my r, wat mods wood b bess ta git mo powa... dun b tellin me i should b goin ta no drivin skool... i no how ta drive... wood turbo or nos b betta?"

Of course it's POSSIBLE. The bell housing bolt patern is the same but you would have to use the LS ECU which would make the car run lean.

But more importantly WHY????!!!!! For the sake of all that makes these cars so wonderfull WHY WHY WHY?????!!!!!!

Bracket racing would be the only decent reason. Learning to drive would be much better though, I'm within .020 of my dial every time I go down the track. It's not hard.

Why not try to get your hands on a japanese integra b16a auto ecu? Once again not saying this is the way to go, but it is a possiblity.

Convert to manual, it's not hard.

My 90 RS was automatic and I converted it to 5 speed when I put in a B16.

An ITR with an automatic would be a crime in my book.

I thank you for the people who are giving me the correct information and helping this misinformed miscreant. A big middle finger to those who are taking up thread space with hammers and crap like that.

I was only asking if it could be done. It's obviously going to end up a ITR Engine in a non-ITR which would make it almost annoying. However, rather than add boost or nos, I figured I might research starting off with a better engine. B16 mods are overdone, and I'm just looking for info.

I thank Red Daw and 92SleepR.

What does this mean?

A cable B16 is a far better starting point than your auto LS. It's also considerably cheaper than a B18C swap and the extra money can be put towards a turbo kit later.

Why do people shy away from things because they're "played out" or "overdone"?

Nothing you do to a Honda will be original, unless you re-engineer the car to the point where it is a Honda only in spirit.

By starting point I meant the engine. I think even you would agree that a B18C is a better starting point than a B16, cable or not.

At this point in the import scene "original" left as soon as Vin Diesel showed up on screen. I'm not looking to be original, I just want to start off well for any future upgrades that I do.

If you're on a budget, the difference between the B18C and B16 is outweighed by the substantially greater cost of the B18C.

Obviously a B16 with turbo will own a B18C with bolt-ons. Both can be had for around the same amount of money.
