Default DEI 508d proximity sensor placement (sunroof)

Hi everyone. Unfortunately I don't own a Honda, but through searching Google found there appears to be lots of people knowledgeable about these type of car alarm sensors here.

I am trying to determine the best place to put a 508d. Apparently the best place to put them is under the head lining. Unfortunately as there is a sunroof in my car this makes placement towards the centre there difficult. One candidate location is indicated in the picture below, just in front of the sunroof under the motor cover. To fit the top cover of the sensor needs removing. This would be a great location in terms of access to adjust. I would try and adjust it as soft as possible so it only just about warns away when a face and hand moves quickly outside the window, and full alarm when a head and arm enter well into the cabin. However, I am concerned that in this location the full trigger and warn away would extend past the front windscreen, so it may warn away or worse fully alarm in conditions such as heavy rain.

The other possible location is under a cup holder in the centre console precisely in the centre of the car between the backs of the two front seats, but that would be tricky to get to to adjust and would need sticking directly underneath. My other thought was to chuck the sensor in the bin and use a glass sensor instead.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcomed. Thanks in advance

The 508d is great when set properly. My favorite location for the device is under the center console, as close to the center of the vehicle as possible. I know removing the center console can be tedious sometimes, but well worth it, as its coverage radious will be more evenly spread throughout the vehicle.

as stated above, the center console is also a good choice. The most important thing to remember when adjusting the sensor is to keep in mind that the sensor field WILL slowly expand as time elapses. It's best to test your adjustments after being armed for approx an hour, in an open area (or where you plan on parking it most of the time) and away from fluorescent lighting.

I've only just got around to installing and adjusting the 508d in the roof console by the electric sunroof motor (extremely slow at getting around to doing things I plan, oops). I had to remove the top of the 508d's case, glue the pcb to the bottom, and relocate the sunroof emergency close tool. I created a wedge at the front to reduce the probability of objects passing the windscreen (birds, rain etc) triggering it, using loud speaker foam tape.

I managed to get it to adjust surprisingly quite well. Will not trigger if walking past, but will if you put your face to the glass (found it impossible to adjust like this when the sensor was installed under centre console in my previous car). No kind of trigger waving arm like mad across front windscreen. Parked outside a kitchen (someone else's) as this is the only place I can park, so time will see if their microwave/fluorescent lighting interferes with it. No falses as yet though.
