98 spec type r engine, how much is too much?

i've run boost on b series and nitrous on d series, but i dunno about this 11.1:1 compression and a 75 shot. is this safe? wet and set up correctly with a step colder plug and 2 degrees out of ignition timing? those cylinder pressures scare me.

also does anyone here run something similar without retarded ignition timing, i dont spray often and dont want to sacrifice power all the time

 

It's a bad idea but you should be safe with a 50 - 75 shot. I don't recommend using that MSD box add on to change your timing. These little changes here are not going to have a huge impact on your performance when you're not boosting with nitrous but it becomes a slippery slope. As you start mucking around so that your car is safer to run on the bottle the changes you make CAN hinder your day to day performance when your car isn't seeing boost. Turbo is a way better option IMO and you won't feel like you are bullshitting.

 

ok cool. yea if i run one it will be a 55 shot, i just dont ever run a shot if i can't get away with running a step higher safely too you know what i mean?

i have sunk 4k into this car in 3 weeks, so i just don't have the cash to swap to a real type r transmission and put cams and intake manifold in to get my results for now. i'll just wait, and be safe. (just bummed lol, i lost to an Lt1 car after he caught up after 1/8th mile last night, beat the nitrous POS sentra SeR tho)
