sounds like your car is probably a wiring nightmare

so it will idle fine.. if you push in the clutch when its idling does it die?

I had this same problem awhile back with my hatchback. When it started it would idle fine. But as soon as I let it warm up for awhile it would die when the clutch was pressed. For me it ended up being a vaccuum hose that was connected in the wrong location on my Skunk2 intake manifold & one of the wires to my electric fan was cut, so the car wasn't cooling efficiently. After I switched around some hoses and wired up the fan it ran perfectly. I do not know if this helps you out.

I agree with cadeMFjohnson about the wiring issue. Check out all your wiring for cuts, corrosion, improper grounds, and etc.
