My ride quality
Hi. I have a 96 ek that I currently upgrade some of my suspension.
Running
OG omni lca
Asr subframebrace
Ctr rear sway
On skunk2 sleeves with brand new koni yellow shocks
Running 10k/8k spring rates
My konis are adjusted to super soft
My car is not slammed
About 1 1/2- 2 finger gap
On rota slip streams 16s don't know exactly if they are 16x6.5 or 16x7
Have brand new falken ziex ze329 tires
205/40/16
My ride feels really stiff still. Even with my shocks fully soft.
I'm fine with it but my girlfriend I can tell she's not happy that I spent 465 on brand new shocks and only I can feel the difference when she can't really tell.
I was wonder if maybe I installed my konis incorrectly? That could possibly change my ride quality? Anyone know if I should of dropped the car and loosen the bolts to the lca before tightening it? Or is it just because my springs are really stiff and I still feel everything that's on the rode?

The springs you are running are the equivalent of 560lb front 450lb rear. You would need something in the neighborhood of 380f 250r to be comfortable. I currently run 380f and 400r on my hatch with konis and its stiffer but not too bad.
Since those tires are smaller in diameter than stock, getting it down to a "1 1/2 - 2 finger gap" is slammed.
The car would have flushed tires if the correct tire size was on the car.
Besides that, adjusting Koni Sports (Yellows) only changes the rebound damping, so no adjustment of them will ever make the car feel softer or stiffer. Adjusting them only changes how the car recovers from a bump. Full soft is probably rather under damped, and would result in a bouncy ride. Comfort would improve on a stiffer setting on the shocks.

Ty all for your guys input. Yeah I mean i was running ona budget with tires and everything else so I skipped out on my sleeves ad reused ones that I had on before. I was gonna go With the gc set up. I'm gonna try to stiffin up my strut first see how that goes. And reason why I got such low profile tires was because I got them for 300 mounted and alignment done and Adjusted my camber. And I think that's a he'll of a price.

When you torque the lca bolt (ll 3 of them) the car must bo on the ground so the suspension is under load. If you torqued them in the air then your bushings are binding and your ride will suffer as a result. No other way about it.
You're tires are to small, period. Go to a 205/50/15.
3rd, our spring rates are stiff for street driving. Unless you track the car regularly those are high, by about 2kg/mm front and back.
Fix at least the top 2 and your ride will see much improvement. If you do all three then you're golden.
Last but not least, tell your girlfriend to stfu, its your car, do whatever the **** you want with it.

On the opposite side, under damped allows the car to "bounce" a few times after a bump, which is also less comfortable. "Feels like an old car with dead shocks" is a good description.

Btw, hes runing 16's.
The best thing i could say, is if it bothers you look into lower spring rates.
I think it would make a difference in how stiff, but Skunk2 are linar springs which helps in the ride being a bit stiffer.
If you have so much rebound damping that the shock doesn't decompress correctly (quick enough), then the car is over damped, and the ride quality will be rather harsh. (I think that is what is being described in the quoted text.)

Just curious, my shocks don't feel like you described "under damped allows the car to "bounce" a few times after a bump," at any setting. On the softest setting they never bounce a few times. As you turn them up 1/6th of a turn at a time they feel stiffer until the stiffest setting. I do know what an under damped car feels like when I had the same coilovers on the stock shocks. The car seemed to oscillate very badly. I wonder if the difference in weight of our cars has to do with it?

Full soft, my car doesn't feel under damped to me. However, it does feel better turning them up slightly, which leads me to believe that they must be under damped at full soft. So I just keep turning them up until it feels obviously worse, then back off slightly and call it done. I also end up repeating this procure often, since I keep forgetting to mark the "street setting" before adjusting them for auto-x...
