Question about coilovers.
I am planning on picking up my ap1 next week after my HREs sell and i have a question. first thing going on the car are coilovers. Are the megan EZ coilovers a decent set? Wll i get the car low? they are only about $650.

Not trying to offend people here, but with a great handling car like an S2000, wouldnt you want to save up and spend a little more than $600 on coilovers for you car to get something better?
yeah I've heard that the only "inexpensive" coilovers that are going to help...and not hurt...the s2k's handling from stock would be the KWV3s or Tein FLEX. IMHO I wouldn't waste your money on a cheap set of coilovers...the s2k deserves better than that dude.
"Slamming" an s2000 only hurts its handling.
Ill be purchasing a set of swift springs for my s2000. best springs available, best performance value. no need to spend money on high dollar coils unless i plan on frequenting the track.

Very true... I was extremely impressed with the Swifts, but when I went to the Bilsteins it was like night and day... Dont get me wrong, I loved my Swifts, but youll notice a huge improvement if you ever decide to upgrade...
yup coils>springs no matter what springs u run there is a huge difference in the cars responsiveness with coils. and plz justify how slamming the car hurts handeling? if ur alignment is set for grip not tunkin wheels the car will handle better with the lower center of gravity the shock travel is not affected with hight with most new coils. i agree with the fact that the car will not grip as well if ur runnin some crazy wheels and -camber and ur contact patch is about as big as a crotch rockets. but just cause the car is low dosent mean its gona handle worse than stock.
im using the word "slamming" mostly reffering to ricers who just dump their car for looks. of course if your setup properly this isnt an issue, but shock travel, and alignment adjustments play a huge role in the question of "how low is too low". most poeple dont take this into account and just blindly think lower is better because of "center of gravity"
^ I agree I thought I were saying slamming in general. But yes they r way too many pple that slam the **** out of the car thinking there **** is better
I've driven my fair share of "slammed" vehicles, and their handling sucks the big one. Suspensions need travel to even out bumps and to maintain semi-acceptable ride quality. The lower the car is, the less distance the struts have to absorb the spring force and the force on the car in general.
My car is lowered almost 2" and even that feels a bit low to me, yet everyone tells me to make it even lower. However, my car's suspension is actually functional and irons out bumps reasonably well. I wouldn't ever go any lower than that though. I can't say exactly how much is too low on the S2000 being as how I don't own one.
I have about a finger and a half gap on my wheelwell. I would guess that, once you start tucking tire, it's gonna ride like absolute crap. That has been my experience with all vehicles lowered that far.

as far as the s2k goes, i haven't lowered mine yet. im trying to figure out what type of coilovers i should get. i know damn well im not getting anything cheap for it because IMO if you can afford to drive an s2000 then you can afford to spoil it parts wise. im thinking about tein flex's or the buddy club n+. OP, i had a guy locally try to sell me some megan 32 way adjustables with like 10k miles on them for $400, but he said that it rode pretty rough and like i said im going to try to spoil my baby with parts. so im waiting til i sell my integra and get some teins or buddy clubs. just listen to these guys as far as their opinions. you get what you pay for.
sigh...just because they "feel" great or ride decent doesnt mean they are good. The handling on a slammed S2000, sitting on megans, buddyclub n+, and about 99% of the cheap coils out there, make the s2000 lose handling...even though they may "feel" stiff and responsive and ride well. Most of you dont use the car or push the car far enough to know the difference most likely...just saying.
if you want a show car, fine...but if not...get something decent and learn how to improve your car's performance and not JUST the looks

When you change one of those components, like changing out the springs or springs and struts and replace them with anything that raises or lowers the height of the vehicle, you put stress on other components that were not meant to be at that height. Example being like your sway bar endlinks and even the sways themselves.
So by dropping your car anything lower than stock height and installing stiffer spring/shocks at the same time you really have review the sways and their endlinks too.
Similar to the CR, they changed not just the spring rates or struts but the whole package - sways, bushings, etc.
So to get to the original point, slamming your car as 99.99999% of the users do with just coilovers you are not helping your handling at all.

When i said they feel great i wasnt refering to track use or pushing my car i meant as a daily.

Edit: Guessing from OP's post he wants to be pretty low. With the N+ you can be low enough to the point you cant drive, so they are good there too.
