fuel pump doesnt prime and main relay doesnt click
a little info:
ej1 civic
no engine in it right now
just replaced firewall harness
so i just got done swapping a new firewall harness in and get everything plugged in, it has a chasebays engine harness(deletes the 2 shock tower plugs, goes straight to ecu)
i check everything electrical and everything seems to be working good. throw the fuel pump in it to make sure it works to. turn the key over and it doesnt prime. i listen to the main relay and i dont hear a click.
as i said the car doesnt have a engine in it so i took the thermo housing ground and grounded it to the body of the car(is this ok?)
i went through the haynes and checked things and im not getting conituiny(sp?) at terminal 2 on the main relay connector. the main relay is good checked it in my other civic.
other note when checking continuity at a7 and a8 i got a little at a7 but wasnt getting a reading on a8 same goes for a25 a27 and b1. but this could have been because i wasnt getting a good touch on the pins is there some tricks to this?
some help would be greatly appreciated sorry for the long post

Use a wire to ground terminal 2 locally (e.g. against the dash frame). Does the fuel pump now prime?
By the way, both the main relay and ECU are separately grounded to the thermostat housing. Have you ensured grounding of these different wires?
Did you check fuses 31 and 24?

all fuses are good that was the first thing i checked.
how are they both seperately gorunded there? i thought there was just one ground there? i didnt know this so i guess i just have the engine wiring harness grounded there??

ECU terminals A26 and B2 must ground on the thermostat housing (or the body frame in your case).
Main relay terminal 2 must also ground the thermostat housing (or the body frame in your case) and on ECU A23 and A24.

ok looks like i have something to tomorrow. also is there a better way of checking the ecu plugs rather than just jamming the probe in them? feel like img going to screw some ends up on the wires
Remove ECU connector A and B and the main relay connector. You should measure continuity to body ground individually at terminals A26 and B2 of the ECU connectors and at terminal 2 of the main relay connector.
doesnt this work off the cam position sensor...the cam position tells the relay that the motor is not turning so it shuts the pump off after 3 seconds..and when its running, the cam sensor tells the relay its running so it keeps the fuel pump on? if the cam sensor is not pluggen in wouldnt it keep it from clicking the relay and turning on the pump? im not sure ronj but i know you know the answer to that
any different view here would help so since i dont have a single sensor plugged in as far as the engine harness is concerned this could be plausible.
also ronj if i dont have continuity at terminal 2 on the main relay connector what would this mean???

also, chasebays offers lifetime warranty on their products and they say that they will help you diagnose any problems over the phone. however, i have dealt with chasebays and met chase mcmaster, and well i really shouldnt say anything bad on here about chasebays...but goodluck getting to talk to him on the phone
i had the same issue but i made a new ground to the ground point above starter, where 4 points of ground run together.
and besides that i installed a extra ground to it also.. so it is extra grounded.. and then the car started working. before that i had also no click or something from the main relay or fuel pump.

im taking a multimeter and one probe to the wire and one probe to a bolt on the chassis.
ive tested other grounds to this bolt so i know the bolt will work for a ground.
