WHITE SMOKE AND DIRTY WATER
HEY,I HAVE AN EG CIVIC 1.5 NON-VTEC AUTO.THE PROBLEM IM HAVING IS IF I LEAVE MY CAR UNSTARTED FOR OVER A DAY WHEN I START IT, IT BLOWS WHITE SMOKE AND WATER COMES FROM THE EXHAUST.I HAVE TO KEEP THE REV'S UP TO AT LEAST 1000 OTHERWISE IT STALLS IF I DO THIS FOR ABOUT 15-20 MINS THE CAR IDLES FINE AND THE SMOKE AND WATER STOP.AHHHHHH WHATS GOING ON??????????????
Ok the smoke is only there when i eccellerate and stops after 15-20 min then you can drive around fine all day.same as the idle, its really rough for 15-20 mins then it slowly evens out and is fine all day

no really if you only get smoke at start up after setting for awhile your valve seal are prob bad and allowing oil to pool up in the intake runner intill the tip of the valve expans with heat and is able seal then the process repeats as i cools down
When oil burns it burns BLUE
OP has WHITE SMOKE. MEANING COOLANT.
pull the plugs to see if they are mis colored. Most likely head gasket is gone.
also have you tuned the car up? meaning Rotor cap wires?
Just to add to this, if the HG is gone or worst case there is a crack somewhere it could just be a small minute crack... so once the heat builds up enough to expand the metal the "crack" might be sealing itself up... As stated above WHITE smoke = coolant figure out how it's getting in and you'll know what to fix.
this is my first car and ive only had it for 5 months so where is the best place to start looking for the leak?is there any common places for coolent leaks or any threads that can help me out ?i dont want to go to a mechanic i want to learn myself.
to check the leak you gotta pull the head off. search around the site im sure people such as yourself has had this problem before and wanted to fix there car.
