i swaped my 95 civ to a b18b1.. to get it to start you have to hold it at WOT, it will idle very ruff, and wont rev if you are giving it gas.... the motor is out of a 98 teg.. but im running an obd1 ls ecu. i used the stock civic wire harness. what could be my problem? also the timing is right on..

 

did you do the 3 wire to 2 wire iac fix ? is the timing ok did you maybe hit the tps sensor puting the engine in .

civic harness uses a 3 wire iac teg uses 2 wire search in the hybrid section .

 

i found out it is not getting enough fuel.... if i tun the key on and off a bunch of times befor i start it, it somtimes will start and run normal for a few seconds... so befor i change the pump, why would it run fine with the d series in it but not with the b? are the pumps that much diffrent?

 

that's only for 96-00 Civic (non 5 speed EX or Si models)

 

Do you have any check engine lights? Sounds like you may be missing the ground for the main relay on the thermostat housing?

it does sound like your injector ground on the t-stat housing is loose..not getting a good ground..

 

ill check the ground. but there is hardly any fuel in the rail... i just find it funny that this problem started after i put the new motor in... in going to change the filter and see what happens

 

Can you hear the fuel pump kick on?

 

yea you can hear it come on.

 

check the map sensor and tps sensor plugs see if theyre in the wrong spot and swap them.

 

i already checked that.... but somtimes when i get it running it will backfire out the intake when it dies... or it will start to run backwards!? wtf is goin on!

 

Check the mechanical timing and compression test the cylinders.

 

timing is perfect and compression is 180 across

 

also a friend of mine said that if there is no water in the motor it will pull timing?

 

Was the original MAP sensor for your 95 Civic mounted on the firewall? If so, is the MAP sensor connector plugged into the old MAP sensor or into the one on the throttle body?

Can you post pictures of the cam and crank positioned at TDC1?

 

the map sensor is on the maniflold. i can take pics of it when i get to the shop.

 

are the plug wire's on the dizzy right ??

 

yes the firing order is right..

 

are you using obd 1 dizzy or obd2 ???

i am getting it to run better but the dizzy has to be full advanced just to get it to rev some what fast
