Default ED engine hood contact

I have a 1991 ED civic with a b18c swap. There is light contact between the hood frame and the valve cover, even the distributor gets nipped a little bit. I know I could probably use spacers at the hinges but I would like to keep the body lines. Has anybody had any luck with removing parts of the hood frame? If so what methods worked for you?

Ive seen people using washers under the motor mounts to lower the motor a little bit when doing k20 swaps...might work for you?

yeah it might work. I already have a hard time with speedbumps, ground clearance is already pretty low.

in that case i would say your best bet is to cut out some of the webbing underneath the hood to gain some clearance

Thats exactly what i was thinking. Just wanted to hear some feedback from people who have tried it and what method of cutting they used.

I used an air die grinder to cut the webbing.

lol I would just get a EF9 front end or tilt the hood.Other than that your best bet is what D16SiHatch suggested.

Had the same problem. Went the die grinder route too and cut a small amount off. And thats all it took. Sucks when you open your hood u have a kinda hacked webbing though :/

Eh that would be ok, as long as the vibration subsides.

Take a piece of heavy wood, like oak. wrap it in an old blanket. open your hood, hold the wood on teh OUTSIDE (have a friend hold the hood open)

Bash at the webbing. Its there for structual strength, not looks.

I recommend this over cutting the webbing.

You still have a skeleton, and you now have some clearance.

Another option is to use HASport B series mounts, they move the motor towards teh firewall slightly to combat this.

Or you can buy a JDM style oem hood. USDM hoods come down in teh middle between teh fenders. the JDM hoods actually go UP.

yeah i tried bashing at it a little bit but i didnt have support on the other side, so the webbing wasnt really going anywhere. Ill have to give that a try. Thanks for your feedback.

just be careful

If you are a bit nervous about having a wrapped SMOOTH piece of wood, you can try using vicegrips, and twisting the webbing wherever you need it.

ill give that a try, thanks again for all the responses. I just needed a cheap fix...i dont really have enough money to replace hood or motor mounts. This should do it, ill let you know how it turns out.
