is it true that all VTECs burn oil i would think so cause i your always beating on your car and especially always in vtec of course its gonna burn oil giving it 8 grand revs i would think of course your gonna burn some oil dont you think cause its getting really hot

well just wanted to get some opinons

 

My cars always burn a little bit, but not till I start modifying them. Would probably happen at high RPMs with 100k+ anyway, but I never get that far before I start swapping out parts. I don't mind as long as it's not allot.

 

my gsr doesnt burn any oil inbetween oil changes she runs like a dream

mine doesent either i have a 97 gsr and it only burns a little if i beat on it a lot
but thats about it

 

My lude does not burn any oil.... yet! only 18K miles on it, and I don't drive it do work every day. But I do auto-X it, and drive hard on weekends some times. I have olny used, Amsoil oil for the life of the car.

So, not ALL VTECH's burn oil.

Mine doesn't even seem to have any oil. Just the battery pack. But I mostly use the cell phone these days.

Anyway, back to cars, my SOHC VTEC burns no measurable oil with pretty hard mountain driving and autocross. But I've always heard that the oil burning was a DOHC thing.

 

Ya gotta whoop on em a bit to get into the bit-o-oil burning club! Then you can tell yer girl that you just HAD to upgrade to get rid of the evil oil consumption.

 

I think technically some oild burns on VTEC enguagement. Since it uses oil pressure, or something like that?

But that is minimal.

Shouldn't burn much.

 

when vtec engages it doesnt burn oil

 

drive mine about 95 miles a day mostly highway, with some high revving but no oil burning. i had to put a little over half of a quart, but that was because i had about 6k miles on an oil change.

Sometimes ya gotta pull a little leg to maintain your supply of leg...if you follow.

...and I work on my car for hours, putting on toys and tuning...spending a small fortune. Then I change the oil in her car...intentionally taking 3x required, and say "hey I worked on YOUR car too dear!" lol
