I would upgrade pistonS cams rods and some internals so you dont blow your engine up

you can boost anything, doesn't mean it will be efficient nor reliable
like ej6 said, upgrade your innies so it don't go kaboom

I know people who drove their y8 on stock internals on 8psi boost with a good tune for a very long time. Nothing went ka-boom with them..

Numbers seem kind of low. How many miles are on it? Oil consumption?

Hes right you can boost anything. If the cars low mileaged and well maintained on stock innies you can get more life out of it. But i would do it right the first time so you dont have to fix it again. I learned the hardway lol. Do it right homeslce

If you're doing low boost you can keep them stock, but get a good tune. Many people have done it.. But thats just an opinion of what i'd do. Dont blame me if anything happens.

Buy a cheap y8 or z6 bottom end, build it for boost and swap it in on the weekend. Sell yours to recover some cash. Boost away.

That block will bolt right to the Y8 head just fine. If you want to just build that block and swap it in, you can.

Personal preference for you of course though, so do what you want.

Ninja im doin 11psi on .63 trim. BOOST AWAY. D16s love it.

OP make sure you have a good tune and you should be okay. D16's are notorious for spun rod bearings but always make sure you have all 4.2qt's of oil.

Ive had a .63 trim eBay set up with 440cc injectors and a tuned P28 @11psi since may, and it was at 7psi since February. I change my oil with conventional every 3000 miles and dont do much maintenance besides that. I spent about $1300 w/ tune if I remember correctly. You can buy used eGay kits for about $400. My engine is stock other than ARP head studs and new OE head gasket and timing belt.

A few pics for motivation

125psi on your cylinders is real low. rings are probably worn out and boosting it will just make it worse.. I would do a smal rebuild first or get a different block. then def get a tune. and make sure you deal with you crank case ventilation or your ringlands will hate you. and psi is only relative to what turbo you have, 10psi on small turbo is not the same as 10psi on a big one.

I have a 99 civic ex d16y8(150k) and Im running 12-13psi on a Precision sc34. Proly somewhere around 260-270whp. Everything is stock....valve cover to oil pan. I think the head is starting to lift on me so I gotta throw some ARP headstuds in sometime soon. Other then that, it runs awesome! Outrun mustangs, camaros, 350z's, etc. Definately faster then I thought it was going to be for my daily driver. Go ahead and boost it! If you go over 6-7psi then I would definately invest in some aftermarket headstuds. Other then that you should be good to go as long as you have a good tune!

Well you can run 8psi all day long but eventually it will need headstuds. I ran 15psi for 4-5 months then backed it down to 12-13psi a few weeks ago and just a few days ago is when I noticed the head was lifting.

Also something else to think about it 5psi on one turbo is not going to be the same power level on another turbo that may be bigger/smaller. 5psi on a t3/t4 57 trim isnt going to be the same as 5psi on a t3/t67. Know what I mean? I think the OP should just stick with something like a 57 trim to start out with.

The numbers he listed are WAY too low for the compression he claims to have. I would further investigate the condition of that engine before I were to go asking more from it..

Y7/Y8 engines always seem to spin rod bearings. The crank oil journals are drilled different then the previous D16 engines. I would personally toss the Y series crank and source a Z6/A6 crank. Its going to be 10x's more reliable then the stock crank. Since you just brought up money issues, it sounds like you shouln't be playing with boost at all. Its not cheap to make a reliable setup and 5psi is just going to have you searching for more. 5psi on these engines isn't going to be anything special.
