Default 97 prelude immobilazer problems

Hello
97 prelude
I can start the car fine with the key I got. No problems there. But as I drive, the car shuts off every 5 to 30 minutes and the immobilizer lights flashes up on the dash. I can trun the car back on and keep driving but the same thing happens again.
Any ideas as what could be the problem or where to start?
Much appreciated, thanks.

There is a recall concerning the ignition switch. The switch is defective, which can cause the car to lose power (akin to turning the key to the "OFF" position) as you're driving. If your car is an automatic, there is a recall concerning the interlock on your shifter. See a dealer, both recalls are done free of charge. I recently had mine done, and the problem in question no longer exists.

Thanks for the info Phoenix1
Upon further research my key seems to be the problem. I have the grey key. It is the only key I have been given when I bought the car.
This was not meant to be used to drive the car with. It is why it keeps dying. I need a diff key.
Im phoning Honda dealer and Ill see if they can make me a new key. It is all coded to the car, key, immobilizer and the ecu so i hope it is possible for them to make me a new key. One concern is that the grey key that i currently have is no good for making a new one as the code in the chip will cause the new key to do the same thing.

every dealer i've spoken to about this has told me the same thing. you cannot copy the 5th gen key unless you have the master RED key for them to clone. other wise its like 900 (CAD) to get a new imobalizer system or whatever it takes to get a new key cut. you could also convert to an obd1 ecu and then you can use a key without having it programmed

Or get a 96 Prelude ECU. Its OBD2 and no immobilizer!
