Default What's the reason for switching to a manual T-Belt tensioner?

I'm swapping my T-Belt this week and saw that there was a way to swap over to a manual tensioner... my question is should I swap over now while I am changing the belt and everything else? What are the pros/cons of the swap? Now I have an h23, so does that come stock with the manual tensioner? I have done a little reading and I keep getting mixed answers... I also see that there is a way to delete the second belt, what is the reason for this, and what all is required for this to be done?

Yes, the h23 is what has the manual tensioner. Most h22 owners use the manual tensioner out of the h23, so you are good to go.

The automatic tensioner from the H22 is known to fail. This will cause the timing belt to go loose and your timing belt will skip causing bent valves...

Manual tensioner, install it, get your timing set right and do it up tight. If you're really worried, put some locktite on and you're good to go.

The second belt turns the balance shafts. Some say its able to be left off with no detrimental effects. I opted to leave mine on when building my engine.

Whats JDM... the manual tensioner or my gates belts? I don't think that gates belts are "JDM", I just think there worth the money. I would hate to get the 29 dollar belt form vatozone and be worried when I can spend a little more and be assured. Plus after spending 200 plus on my cam gears, 75 plus on a custom one pulley alt. pulley, and all new accessories that the T-belt touches, whats another 50 bucks for the best belt on the market?!?
