what is normal for h22 valve noise, dhr v.t. sk2 cams
I have all DH racing valve train in my h22 motor along with skunk2 tuner 2 cams, Im wondering how much louder then stock should it be? im running around .009" valve lash on exhaust side and .008" on intake side. I was told to run valve lash a little looser then I should with stock cams.
im just wondering if I need to tighten up the valve lash to quiet it down or if its perfectly normal for it to just be noisy.

honestly i would get rid of the dhr parts, they are junk and dave hickman is a scammer. he doesnt hesitate to sell parts which fail and destroy engines.
Iv heard alot of bad things about him as a buisness man but the guy that did my v2v check said the valve train would work great for my setup.
Mine too is a bit noisy. My valve lash are set at .007" intake side and .008" exhaust and its listed on Skunk2's site.
My buddy with a B20 V has Skunk2 Stage 2 cams as well and he has valvetrain noise which is very very similar to mine. So I guess its normal.

ok good, Im gonna have shannon do a valve adjustment for me tomorrow since Im sick of messing with it, Ill ask him what he thinks about the noise as hes built a few nasty h22's as well as some other sick all motor cars.

ok mine is loud but not nearly as loud as that one I think. thank you for the video. very helpfull boostedej1.
also Iv heard that the h22 rockers are made out of softer metal then other honda motors and are much more prone to getting eaten up by the cams. any one had experience with this ? also Iv heard to run a zinc additive in the oil to help.

cool, that is the main thing im worried about with my setup. can't wait to get some bigger injectors and retune. also porting the crap out of a stock intake mani to see how much that will help.
same here about 15,000 miles on my build no pad wear at all and yes they are noisy as hell i thought it was the lmas but after reading this i see its just the way the cams sound. Either way 15,000 hard miles on a built motor is alot and it is as strong as the day we built it . Im doing a little more to it then taking it to the dyno . The compression is the same but the dyno will tell if its still got the same or maybe a little more hp since i did a little more to it.
Ill tell you something else to cam gears are noisy even on stock motors ive heard noisy cam gears may be a little of both.
I don't know exactly what spring rate they are but they are DH racing dual valve springs. I believe they are on the stiffer side
