i have a 3" thermal from when my car was boosted and i loved it. Now with a stock b18c its just plain obnoxious. I am thinking about adding in a vibrant ultra quiet resonator to see if i can hush it up, anyone have experiences with these resonators? i really want to modify the thermal catback as little as possible. anyone have a reasonably quiet 3" setup?

u should just find a stock piping and upgrade the piping.. cuz 3in thermal turbo exhaust is a really nice piping to be cutting and welding a resonator... cuz if u wanted to sell that exhaust u can still get some good money back

 

i love my 3in thermal piping on my b81c1, and yes i know how you feel with the noise, it is a bit loud, but i deal with it.

 

the noise is just to much for me

the resonator i am looking at is stainless and also 3", would this affect performance if i was to go back to turbo?(my plan)

 

Very little if any, most resonators are a straight through design.

 

guess i'll give it a shot... gotta do something

well i am not going to boost it for awhile and i am driving the car across the country, and its a long trip to have a loud exhaust.

 

I had an ultra quiet on my 3 inch prelude exhaust. In my experiance it quieted it down a lot.

 

I have done a few 3" setups with the Vibrant resonator and they kept the "boom" type resonance to a minimal level.definitely would recommend it

 

I'm a big fan of stock muffler and exhaust setup with a electric cutout after the header. loud and powerful when you want and quiet otherwise.

 

i am not into dumping to the atmosphere....

 

yeah i desided today while mowing greens and listening to some badass music, to just go boost on my b18c1, i mean i already got 3in thermal ex. and a stage 3 clutch in it.

 

lol i do. honestly it wasnt that loud last night from the next lane over.


i wonder if you can get a bullet style muffler and put it in your exhaust midsection...

stupid questions and i didnt look for it, but does the exhaust tip come out a few inches past the bumper? if it ends before than ive noticed that the noise resonates real bad under the back of the car

 

ahhh, this is an issue with the thermal for crx's. i am going to be cutting the tail pipe tip off and extending the 3" out. i don't like the huge coffee can on the back anyways.

This should quiet the exhaust down tremendously and still give you straight-through performance when you need it.

 

any sound clips or vids...im also using a 3 inch thermal on my all motor build...i was boosted and dont feel like changing exhaust...too much money already spend on the allmotor..

 

man exhaust all motor is tough. If its a racecar, the choice is obvious. For DD, I think ya gotta bite the bullet. Sucks to lose juice but I'll take sanity over 10-15 HP any day. Tried it all, best setup I've found is 2-2.25 into OEM RSX S muffler, or ITR muffler WITH a cat and resonator. That drone otherwise going down the freeway makes any car feel and sound like junk.

Loud car, cross country trip. Well, call me crazy, but $2 can get you earplugs at your local drugstore for you and everyone else in the car. Great idea if you ask me.

this is a 91 crx btw so using an RSX muffler is out..

 

LOL. My 2 dollar fix works great for my car. I have the neon green ones, that way my earplugs can be extra obnoxious just like my exhaust.
