they made an ex/se crv???
ok i've seen this "EX" 1st gen crv with "SE" features. meaning, it's an EX exterior wise, non body painted front and rear bumper and side molding. but, interior is leather like SE and has a sunroof. WTF was that? that's my first time seeing a first gen EX leather with sunroof.
afaik, sunroof is a dealer's option before.. ive seen it several times in both
LX and EX trims...
as for the leather interior, that might be a replacement or another dealer's
option..!?!?

yeah i know... if it wasn't leather, i would've assumed it's an EX w/ sunroof add on to it. but it came with SE leather... so either the owner swapped everything or it is an add on?
LULZ!!!! thanks for telling us what u don't have. LOL jk
oh so leathers are factory options too? i thought u need to buy specific trim to buy leather.. i thought that's the HONDA way. adding stuff is more like toyota-ish thing.

im sure its an ex only thing...but who knows my dad worked at the dealership for 23 years...ive seen all kinds of odd options lol. i doubt honda would tell you no, you cant spend that extra $$$$ for that option haha im sure paying the right price you could get whatever you wanted.

Factory option - was available in the vehicle when it rolled off the assembly line
Dealer option - was added to vehicle after it rolled off the transfer truck
People confuse the two a lot.
I worked as a salesperson at a Honda dealership back in 1997 when the CR-Vs first hit the lot. This dealership was adding leather, power moonroofs from ASC, different alloy wheels, etc. etc. and even putting badging on them like "Special Edition" etc. People buying the cars rarely ever knew what was factory installed versus dealer added.
I think this is how we get so much misinformation on what options were truly factory or not.
"Well my mom bought her 1998 CR-V brand new and it had a factory moonroof/sunroof" etc. etc.

BTW:
One way to verify if a vehicle comes with FACTORY options is to find a component and look it up on the parts catalog on www.hondaautomotiveparts.com
Example?
If you want to know if a CR-V ever came with a moonroof/sunroof simply try and look up any if its components such as the glass, the motor, etc. and try different year models and trims.
I'll play around and see if my suspicion is true about 1st gen CR-Vs - I believe the early years had no factory moonroof/sunroof, but maybe the last year or two of it before the body style changed (in its best trim level like "SE") might have had one available or even standard.

Try looking up "roof lining" to see a pic of the head liner for all makes/models of the 1997-2001 CR-V - according to the pics not even the top of the line 2001 SE had a FACTORY moonroof in it.
When I get more time I'll try looking for the actual moonroof glass...
