Icon2 How to install a B16 VTEC head on a B18A1 block properly

I just got a DB1 with a B16 VTEC head on it but I feel it kinda weak. And since this is my first VTEC I was wondering the things I need to put on the engine soo that the VTEC could kick in hard, because I heard that if you dont install the B16 head right it ends up making your engine loose horsepower.

You can try flipping the cylinder head upside down and reinstalling it, sometimes people put them on upside down and it looses a little oil flow through the vtecs. I know not having hard kicking vteck is such a issue, because frankly I myself, if that vtec aint poppin off like a pissed off lion then it aint worth ****in' wit my main, ya dig?

If its running with no leaks and does not burn anything then its been installed properly. It might need a proper tune. Only thing to make Vtec kick harder is to upgrade.

Go high compression b20-vtec. Way better than ls-vtec.

No but seriously though, jokes aside since i got that out of my system. What do you think is set up incorrectly? vtec may not "Be loud and pop your ear drums" if its a stock B16 head for instance, stock b16 cams are very non aggressive. If it has adequate oil flow, the proper ECU, and the proper headgasket/oil line/tap/plug was used, then there should be no actual mechanical issues. It may just be that it doesnt roar like the herd of 1000 burning sheep running through the safari.

lolz can we sticky this?

i think i see your problem mang.

see that lil hole there on the valve cover, very common problem, called VTEC leakage.

the power is escaping thru that lil pipe. reroute it to your intake pipe and you will get that vteck back where it belongs.

how hard did you think your vtec would "KICK"? we need a vtec doctor here.

it looks fine to me with the exception of the missing hose between your valve cover and the intake

btw what car did you have before this would be a good question to ask.
