send the head out?

should you send the head out to get checked for warpage if your replacing the head gasket in advance even if it never overheated or anything?

You can check it yourself with a straight edge. I usually just get it resurfaced whenever I change a headgasket.

about how much would it cost? would it be more worth it to just put on gsr head?

I dont get your answer. But what make and model is this. What motor? It only cost about $30-$40 to get the head resurfaced.
