Strange Idle Problem
Hello everyone,
I have a 2006 civic, R18A, automatic transmission. My problem is as follows:
Recently, I took the car for service due to some shuttering. The service center replaced two coils and my spark plugs and cleaned the throttle body.
Now, the idle rpm when cold start is between 1500 and 2000.
When the car is hot the idle goes down to between 900 and 1100 rpm.
While in park or neutral, if I press the gas pedal for a second, the rpm goes up to whatever rpm like 2500 for example then it starts going down to around 1000 then it surges to 1700 then it starts going down again to settle at around 1500.
I also started to experience a brake problem in traffic jams or when i hit the brakes hard, the brake pedal gets stiff and the brake becomes inefficient.
To solve the problem, I tried to reprogram the ECM/PCM with no luck. I also tried to do the idle learning procedure, also didn't work. I also replaced the whole throttle body and didn't work.
I also bled the cooling system from air bubbles. but i still have the same problem.
I would appreciate any help possible regarding this problem because it is driving me crazy.
Thank you

I'd call the service center and have them come pick up the car. It sounds like it is a strong possibility that whatever they did has caused the new issues you're having.
The braking problem sounds like ABS is kicking in when it shouldn't- thats a big safety issue and should be taken very seriously.

testify, I did call the service center and they tried and tried but with no luck and they finally told me that they don't know what to do.
and regarding the brake, my car doesn't have ABS.
Could you please take a look at the following videos that show the problem i am having:

have you checked your ur intake manifold?
my friends car had the same thing his intake manifold had something wrong and he got it fixed
but ive only noticed it on automatics
mines is 06 sedan lx manual tranny and no problems with idling
but the brakes that is serious take it to the dealer if anything and try bleeding the brakes.

Ive heard of this problem before but only on an Si. But the problem was that an intake sensor on the throttle body was unplugged due to a p2r tbs install. If all the sensors are plugged in you might have a defective sensor. Only other thing i can think of that might fix it is to unplug your battery for a few minutes and then reconnect, start your car and let it idle for a few minutes. I know i dont have alot of post so it looks like im a noob but ive never been to this site and just trying to help out. Whatever the possibility, i hope it works out for ya! Goodluck man.
