Default Can get this darn transmission on!

I was just bolting up my 93 civic dx tranny to my new 97 civic ex motor and noticed there was about a space 1/8" big between the two. Is this normal? Did I not align it correctly? Is there any way to test and see if things are good before I install the whole motor to find out the space needs to be closed? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The space needs to be closed. No doubt about that. Maybe you dont have the clutch disc perfectly alligned so the end of the output shaft isn't going into the pilot bearing on the flywheel.
