Need some help on find long lasting high temp paint
I'm in the process of going over my rebuild here and i'm painting the tranny / block -
I've cleaned them throughly with purple power and brake cleaner and i'm toying with the idea of one more wash..
with that said i'm thinking of a anodized purple color or something along that lines in a candy red.. i dont really have the money to powder coat. But i'm just seeing what you guys recommend as this isn't my area of experties if you would..
Should i get a few cans and spray it, do i need a clear coat i'm looking for something that can withstand engine bay cleaning probably every month or so.

red scotch pad wheel, scuff that bitch up real real good, use a self etching primer from duplicolor, sand with a gray scotch pad, then spray your color...metalcast.. or engine enamel from duplicolor ive never had any issues with heat. Rustoleum brand paint on the other hand ive had nothing but trouble with. Especially their self etching primer, what junk. SEM makes a spray can clear coat that will serve well. Most any paint will handle engine bay stuff with the exception of spraying exhaust pieces directly. The automotive paint you use on the exterior of your car (lets say black for instance) can see temps of 200 degrees on a blazing hot summer day. If your engine parts like your block and tranny case are getting so hot that your peeling paint, you have bigger issues at hand lol
you're right for the most part, but i wouldn't spray regular spray paint anywhere near the entire front of the block and head. it would take me a long time to dig up the old pics, but a friend of mine sprayed his block and head with some lower temp engine enamel and even thatr peeled behind the header. it was prepped perfectly, it just couldn't take the heat
