I own a 2006 Honda Odyssey and I noticed from work a few days ago, a mothball smell coming from the A/C unit in the front. Since I work at Petsmart I thought a cat owner who uses them got it on me.

I now just smelled it again (a few days later, today NOT working) and I believe it's coming from the A/C...it could be coming from outside but I really don't know.

Are you sure it's just the AC? Often times the cowl or cabin filter can cause unpleasent smells.

 

Based on the information given, there are mothballs (or something with a similar scent) either in your car or elsewhere in the universe.

 

Cabin filter is probably dirty, try picking up a new cabin filter at your honda dealer
