Default Which Civic Sedan- Pre-09 or Post-09?

Looking at trading my 2005 Dodge Ram in for a Civic SI Sedan, which would you guys suggest, pre-09, or post-09? Any trouble spots I should look out for? What if I buy brand new, any price point I should be aware of?

If you want used, go with no earlier than a 2008 sedan, to avoid the 3rd gear issue. If you have the income, I don't see why you shouldn't just go brand new.

Well being able to afford the payments for new wouldn't be a problem, what would be is that I only have to pay on my truck for 1 more yr. vs. 3-4 at least on a brand new car. Styling wise I think I like the position of the fogs better on the 09+.

Thats kind of what I am leaning towards, now the question, what color. I like the ROP, FBP, and TW.

09 and up. I have an 06 and even though I have personally never had any 3rd gear issues, I would rather be safe than sorry. Plus the newer body looks better IMO.

^ galaxy grey. I'll choose TW from your choices. BTW they don't make FBP in 09+ anymore, the new color is Dyno Blue Pearl which is not a bad color as well.

Yeah I saw that on the FBP, I'm not sure if I feel the same way about the DBP. I like the ROP because after 100 pages of the pics thread I haven't seen too many of those, but I saw a lot of TW, so it would be different, but wheel choices that look good would be limited. I did find 1 09 SI TW w/nav with 10k miles for $20k. Waiting on an answer on what they can do for me as far as trade. Only problem is if I trade my truck I have nothing to haul my quads with (hondas also)

Well then my question is: Why do you want to trade your truck in for a civic sedan? From what you've posted dosn't seem like its practical for your life style.

Do I want to? Absolutely yes. Is it practical, probably not, but I can get it all figured out, not gonna run out and buy a car right now.

Fyi... I have changed 3rd gear sets and a fourth gear set in all years with that 6psd including a 2010 at 32,000km... If buying used buy one that's had the updated parts in it.

You can always put a hitch on and get a small utility trailer to haul the quads.

My wife and I have a 07 TW and a 09 ROP navi sedans for daily drivers both are sweet! Can't go wrong with either. Styling is subjective and if you like the fogs on the 09+ get an 09+

My 07 feels a little stronger than the 09. The 09 has the USB connection which I wish my car had. 07 doesn't have TPS which doesn't bother me. The 09 does shift smoother.

How much are they going to give you on trade for the Ram?

I'm not sure. I called the dealer because they are in Fort Mill which is like a 2 hour drive from here, and he told me to use the black book service myself to estimate it. That made me upset because I already pretty much guaranteed him a sale if he could just give me a ballpark number, and since they are a DODGE dealer I figured they could give me a pretty good estimate. I am amazed at some of the things I have heard salesmen say recently on stuff like this.

You can always take your truck to CarMax and see what they will do and tell the Dodge dealership to suck a banana.

Carmax I know will offer me the absolute low end of black book price cause its what they do. And I did email the salesman back, but I was diplomatic in what I said.

And I am still debating what I should do. At best I would end up owing about another $4000 than I do now, which isnt bad, that would only be about 6 more months of payments, at worst I break even on my truck, and owe all of what I get the car for, leaving me with probably another year of payments on top of the year and a half I have left. I could sell my quads, I don't ride them much anyways, but then I have to involve the wife. It probably isn't practical, but I just don't feel quite right in a big ole' truck, I miss my hondas.
