It should. Its seeing the same forces in either direction.

The way to test this would be to do a burnout in reverse and then check for tire marks on the pavement

Works just fine. I have an OBX D series diff in the rear diff housing on my Wagon, and it works. However, my suspension right now is allowing the rear inside wheel to unweight enough coming off a corner that the diff will unload under power. I will try stiffer front springs next. I'm at 672lb (12 kg/mm) springs right now but will try 728lb (13 kg/mm) next. I also have a 24mm front ST bar. Anyone know someone that can bend me an OEM style/fit EF/DA front bar in 26 or 27mm?

If suspension tuning doesn't fix this, I'll be faced with switching to a KAAZ or Cusco (or some other kind of plate style diff). I would love to try the Wavetrac, but they don't have a D series application. Anyone else interested in a D series Wavetrac? If we have enough people interested, we could convince Autotech to make one.

Here's a pic while I was test fitting and modifying the OBX to go into the Wagon housing:

Great information!
To stop rear wheel unweighting you should install rear sway bar or/and harder front or and softer rear springs.

I will not install a rear sway bar yet. I don't want to sacrifice any rear traction until I have a better understanding of how well the rear suspension can put down power. I have raised the front spring rate, and will raise it more. I will also try a larger front bar. I'll keep going until I start losing front traction. So far it's not been an issue.

I cannot go lower on rear spring rate, as I need to control a tire rubbing issue in the rear. Softer srpings will make the rubbing worse.

The rear diff modifications were quite simple. Drill out the threaded ring gear bolt holes. Period.
