The round connectors are pre outs that go to amplifiers. That is way most companies did it back then. I would say that radio is more like 25 years old, maybe in the '83 to '86 range. That is definately upper line with full logic and both dolby b/c.

I can't find my old Alpine tech books that have the pinouts in it but you might check http://elsegra.com/Car%20pinouts/ALPINE.htm to see if something may help.

That radio has built in power so you don't have to use an amp. The 16w+16w on the front is the built in power rating

just read this post and had to look through my pile of old stuff. came across a 7171 and a 3210 eq that I pulled out of an 84 Camaro years ago.

If there is now ground wire then ground the radio case. Usually the boards are connected to casing. You can always pop the cover off and check.
